The Atlanta Braves officially made a play to retain the services of Ervin Santana on Monday.
The team extended a $15.3-million qualifying offer to the right-hander hoping he'll return in 2015.
Santana's agent said earlier in the day (see stack below) that his client would strongly consider a potential qualifying offer and could be the first player in history to accept one.
The 31-year-old hurler went 14-10 with a 3.95 ERA in 31 starts last season.
