Report: Astros to hire Trey Hillman as bench coach
Reuters
The Houston Astros continue to bolster the coaching staff behind newly-hired manager A.J. Hinch, as the club is set to name Trey Hillman their new bench coach, sources told CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Hinch was hired by the New York Yankees in December of 2013 to serve as a special assistant overlooking scouting and player development, but the 51-year-old was reportedly eager to get back on the field.
Hinch previously managed the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of the Japanese Pacific League before spending parts of three disappointing seasons as manager of the Kansas City Royals between 2008 and 2010.
