Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings is expected to undergo surgery to repair the posterior labrum issue that sidelined him for more than two months this season, reports AZCentral.
The 23-year-old spent 69 days on the disabled list this season with discomfort in his left shoulder and struggled upon his return, hitting just .208/.256/.236 over his final 19 games.
Owings, the 41st overall selection in the 2009 draft, is expected to be ready for spring training.
