Report: Michael Young joining Rangers' front office
After a 14-year playing career with the Texas Rangers, Michael Young appears to be transitioning into a decision-making role within the organization.
Young, who retired after the 2013 season, is joining the Rangers' front office, according to CBS's Jon Heyman. Young has reportedly already helped with the club's managerial search, but his specific role with the Rangers isn't clear yet.
Texas is on the hunt for a new manager after former skipper Ron Washington resigned from his post at the beginning of September. Bench coach Tim Bogar filled in as the interim manager for the remainder of the year, and is considered a favorite to take over the position on a full-time basis for the 2015 season.
Young, a seven-time All-Star who also spent time with the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers, retired as a .300/.346/.441 career hitter.
