Geovany Soto: Leaves Tuesday With Thumb Injury
Soto left Tuesday's AL wild-card game with a left thumb injury, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis:
Soto got the starting nod over Derek Norris, with manager Bob Melvin wanting to control the speedy Royals on the basepaths, but Norris was forced into action in the bottom of the third inning. Stephen Vogt is the only other possible catching option on the team's wild-card roster, but he hasn't manned the backstop since July 7.
