Report: Angels' Shoemaker on track to pitch Game 3 of ALDS
The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly going to get a key piece of their rotation back in time for the American League Division Series.
Matt Shoemaker, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 15 after suffering an oblique injury, played catch on Monday without any setbacks and is expected to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
The right-hander emerged as one of the Angels' top starters this season and had unparalleled success following season-ending injuries to both Garrett Richards and Tyler Skaggs.
In 28 appearances this season, Shoemaker owns a 16-4 record. Since the beginning of August, the 28-year-old boasts an 8-1 record and 1.66 ERA, while limiting opposing batters to a .207 average.
The Angels open the ALDS on Oct.2 against either the Oakland Athletics or Kansas City Royals.
