The Los Angeles Angels secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs before even taking the field Friday for a clash with the Seattle Mariners.

The Baltimore Orioles fell 4-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in the day, ensuring the Halos (98-61) the best record in baseball this season. The Angels will also enjoy home-field advantage in the World Series, should they advance that far, by virtue of the American League's win over the National League in this year's All-Star Game. Remember, Mike Trout played an instrumental role in the win earning MVP honors.

The Angels will host the wild-card winner in their American League Division Series beginning Thursday. Los Angeles previously captured its ninth division title and is seeking its first World Series championship since 2002. This marks the second time in franchise history the Angels will go into the postseason with baseball's best record (2008 was the other).
