Astros' Altuve passes Rod Carew for most hits by a 2B since 1936

The Houston Astros haven't had much to cheer about for a long, long time.
But there's reason for optimism that the tides are changing in Houston thanks to second baseman Jose Altuve's breakout season.
Altuve recorded his 219th and 220th hits of the season in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Seattle Mariners. His RBI double in the fifth inning (219th hit) pushed him pass Hall of Famer Rod Carew for most hits in a single season by a second baseman since 1936. Charlie Gehringer of the Detroit Tigers recorded 227 hits that year.
The 24-year-old previously broke Craig Biggio's club record of 210 hits in a season, and is well on his way to claiming the American League batting title with his .345 average.
