American League Game Summary - Chicago at Tampa Bay

St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Franklin hit a two-run homer to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the second of three games on Saturday.

Ben Zobrist finished 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI and Yunel Escobar scored a run for the Rays, who bounced back from a 4-3 loss in Friday's series opener.

Chris Archer (10-8) surrendered just two hits with four walks and three strikeouts to earn the win.

"I thought he had as good of stuff as he has had all year," Rays manager Joe Maddon said.

White Sox manager echoed that statement saying, "I think Archer was just so good that we couldn't get anything going."

Conor Gillaspie drove in a run and Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia each had a hit for Chicago, which mustered just three hits.

Hector Noesi (8-10) gave up all three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings in defeat.

James Loney led off the bottom of the second with a liner down the right-field line for a double. Franklin followed with a two-run blast to right for his first home run of the season and an early lead.

Evan Longoria doubled to kick off the home fourth and moved to third on Loney's groundout. Franklin worked a walk to place runners at the corners, but Matt Joyce lined into a double play to end the frame.

In the fifth, Zobrist's single through the hole on the right side of the infield brought home a run for a 3-0 lead.

Archer walked both Gillaspie and Garcia to open the seventh. Gillaspie moved to third on Dayan Viciedo's fly out. Joel Peralta took over and stranded the runners after getting Andy Wilkins to pop out and Tyler Flowers to fly out.

Jake McGee came on for the ninth and issued a leadoff walk to Abreu. Gillaspie hit a pinch-hit, RBI single to left-center field to get the Rays within two runs. McGee walked Garcia, but settled down to retire the next three batters to earn his 18th save of the season.
