Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton was diagnosed Saturday with inflammation in his rib cage, the latest in a litany of injuries that have plagued the 33-year-old for most of September, reports Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Hamilton underwent an examination after experiencing pain that resonated up through his shoulder blade as he swung the bat and eventually made it painful to breathe.
A different shoulder injury limited Hamilton to just four games this month, and the former first-round pick admitted Friday he's "concerned" about being able to play in his team's first playoff game Oct. 2.
