VIDEO: McCarthy becomes 5th pitcher in Yankees history to throw 'immaculate inning'
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports
Brandon McCarthy has pitched better than advertised since the New York Yankees acquired him from the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 6. Against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, however, he wasn't just good; for one inning, he was perfect.
The lanky right-hander recorded the fifth "immaculate inning" in team history, retiring the side in the seventh with three strikeouts on nine pitches.

McCarthy's pristine inning looked like this:
Wil Myers: Called strike, foul, swinging strike.
Nick Franklin: Called strike, foul, swinging strike.
Matt Joyce: Swinging strike, foul, swinging strike.
