Belt, who hasn't played since Aug. 6 due to recurring concussion symptoms, also missed 50 games from May to July after suffering a fracture in his left thumb.
The 26-year-old was cleared for baseball activities on Thursday and remained optimistic that he could return before the postseason.
Belt and his 11 home runs should provide manager Bruce Bochy's lineup with some much needed power as the Giants rank 15th in the majors this season with the longball.
