Dodgers' Ryu to undergo MRI on ailing shoulder Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu met with the team's head physician, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, on Saturday and will undergo further testing on his ailing throwing shoulder early next week.
Ryu left Friday's start after one inning with what the Dodgers called "left shoulder irritation." He was knocked around for four runs on five hits in his lone frame of work.
The Dodgers are preparing for the worst and have a contingency plan in place should Ryu be unable to make his next start.
Carlos Frias provided emergency relief for Ryu on Friday, allowing two runs over three innings of work.
Losing Ryu, who is the projected third starter in a potential playoff series for the Dodgers behind Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, would be devastating for the rotation and likely force Dan Haren or Roberto Hernandez into a Game 3 start.
