Red Sox' Farrell: It would be optimistic to think Pedroia could play vs. Yankees
Mark L. Baer / USA TODAY Sports
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell isn't getting his hopes up that he'll have second baseman Dustin Pedroia in the lineup Tuesday when the team opens a three-game series against the New York Yankees.
Pedroia, who departed Saturday's game in Tampa Bay after he was involved in a collision at second base, has been held out of the lineup the last two games as he's dealing with concussion-like symptoms.
The 31-year-old has struggled at times this season, batting .280/.340/.379 with seven home runs, 32 doubles and 51 RBI.
