Second opinion confirms pectoral strain for Tigers' Sanchez

The Detroit Tigers can continue to rehab pitcher Anibal Sanchez accordingly, after a second opinion confirmed the right-hander's injury.
Anibal Sanchez saw Dr. James Andrews today in Florida. Diagnosis confirmed right pectoral strain.

The 30-year-old has not pitched since Aug. 8, but the Tigers remain optimistic that Sanchez has a shot at returning to the rotation this season.

Despite bolstering their rotation with the acquisition of David Price, the Tigers have been fighting for their playoff lives, and currently sit a 1/2 game behind the Seattle Mariners for the second Wild Card position.
