Twins starter Ricky Nolasco blanked the Royals over seven strong innings before yielding to reliever Jared Burton, who helped preserve his team's 1-0 lead heading into the game's final frame.
Perkins, however, immediately found himself in trouble as he surrendered a single to shortstop Alcides Escobar, bringing Gordon to the plate with nobody out. The two-time All-Star promptly deposited an inside slider beyond the wall in right field to secure his team's 18th victory in 24 games this month.
