Rangers manager 'backing off' idea of Darvish returning next week

Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish has not thrown since complaining of elbow soreness last week, and manager Ron Washington said Tuesday he's "backing off" the notion of the 28-year-old returning to the mound Aug. 25, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
“I’m not really thinking about the 25th,” Washington said. “I just don’t know what’s going to be. I don’t know what’s going to happen there.”
Darvish landed on the disabled list Wednesday after an MRI revealed mild inflammation in his right elbow, and it now appears highly unlikely the three-time All-Star will return when first eligible.
