Marlins' Jennings to undergo further testing after being struck by line drive
Miami Marlins pitcher Dan Jennings joined the FOX Sports Florida broadcast via phone Sunday, three days after suffering a concussion on the mound.
Jennings was struck in the head by a line drive and is on the seven-day concussion list.
"I'm scheduled to come down to the stadium tomorrow and I think we're going to run through all the tests," he said. "They already went through all their tests at the hospital, but it's a whole different protocol with baseball.
"We're going to try to judge where I'm at and take it from there based on how I do with those."
The 27-year-old told Marlins broadcasters Rich Waltz and Tommy Hutton he received texts and tweets from Pittsburgh Pirates' Jordy Mercer, who was responsible for the line drive.
"I recall most of what happened," Jennings said. "For me it became a situation where I was just trying to do a mental check on myself and see what was wrong and what was okay.
"When something like that happens it just becomes so surreal that you just try to tell yourself that you're okay. I was a little bit scared to move my head or move my neck for fear that if something was wrong, I might do more damage."
Manager Mike Redmond said Monday that it's uncertain how long the reliever will be out of action.
