New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers after injuring his left pinky finger.
Teixeira injured the finger when he slid safely into home plate in the bottom of the eighth inning and was stepped on by catcher Bryan Holaday's left cleat.
The injury required stitches and manager Joe Girardi already ruled him out of tomorrow's series finale, with no return date expected to be announced until results of an X-ray have been assessed.
