Report: Mariners have called about Jon Lester

The Boston Red Sox have been revealed to be open to the idea of trading starter Jon Lester, and the Seattle Mariners have reportedly jumped at the opportunity.

It was reported last week that the Mariners were in on the bidding for Tampa Bay Rays starter David Price, and if the shoe fits on one dominant AL East lefty it stands to reason they would have interest in another.
The Red Sox have spent the entire season going back and forth on reports that contract extension talks with Lester were going poorly, making the option to move him instead of losing him for nothing an increasingly palatable one.
