The Major League Baseball Players Association threatened to take legal action against the Houston Astros after they failed to sign top draft pick Brady Aiken and fifth-round Jacob Nix, and it now appears the ball is rolling on a grievance.
Can confirm union filed grievance against #Astros, as 1st reported by Murray Chass. Argues team tried to manipulate signings of Aiken, etc.

The specifics of the grievance aren't required to be made public and details have not yet emerged. This situation will surely be an ongoing story for weeks and months to come as the draft system is examined to determine if any rules were broken.
The Astros reportedly offered Aiken a $5 million signing bonus and had a verbal agreement on a $1.5 million bonus with Nix. Both deals fell through.
