The Chicago White Sox appear poised to part ways with veteran left-hander Scott Downs, who was designated for assignment last week, reports MLB.com's Scott Merkin.

Downs, who signed a one-year, $4-million deal with the White Sox this offseason, fashioned a 6.08 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP across 38 appearances in 2014, allowing 24 hits while issuing 15 walks over 23 2/3 innings.
