Report: Blue Jays seeking 2nd baseman, not Daniel Murphy
The Toronto Blue Jays remain on top of the AL East thourgh the halfway point of the season, giving the team plenty of impetus to add more depth in hopes of a playoff run.
The Jays biggest weaknesses remain in the starting rotation and at second base, the latter being a place they are actively seeking an upgrade. The team has previously been linked to New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy (see below), but a report CBS Sports' Jon Heyman nipped that in the bud Friday morning.
while blue jays are eying second basemen, they arent considering daniel murphy. they're interested in more defense at 2B

It remains to be seen what the market holds for defense-first second baseman. 37-year-old Mark Ellis has made just 45 mostly disappointing appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals this season, making him a possible candidate that likely wouldn't cost much.
