The last three years haven't been kind to Ricky Romero, and the former ace will miss the rest of the season after undergoing left leg surgery Tuesday.

According to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com, Romero had inflammation cleaned out in his quadriceps tendon. He's tagged with a six-month recovery time.

The 29-year-old left-hander posted a 5.50 ERA with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons this season, walking 42 in 37 2/3 innings. Romero is under contract in 2015 for $7.5 million.
