Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt was scratched for the series finale between Baltimore and Toronto after suffering an apparent head injury in the fifth inning of Saturday's game.
Wendelstedt, who was slated to be Sunday's home plate umpire, appeared to hit his head on the ground after Orioles outfielder Adam Jones ran into him rounding first base. Despite the fall, Wendelstedt stayed in Saturday's game.
The Orioles did not provide further details on his condition, except to say he was sent home, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko.
Jerry Layne will assume plate duties for Sunday's game.
