Overview

Freeland could easily be the first college left-hander taken in the draft after North Carolina State southpaw Carlos Rodon, as the Evansville product boasts superb command of a four-pitch mix that features two above-average secondary offerings. Freeland's "supreme strike-throwing ability" alleviates some concerns over the effort involved in his delivery, according to Baseball America, while his improving changeup could afford him three viable offspeed pitches. Though his velocity was rather pedestrian when he began his tenure at Evansville, the Colorado native added bulk to his frame throughout his post-secondary career, and Freeland's fastball now registers in the low-to-mid 90s.
