Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts jettisoned his Twitter account on Thursday, less than 24 hours after accidentally broadcasting a picture of a scantily clad woman, a photo that was quickly deleted.

“It definitely wasn’t my intention,” Bogaerts told Tim Britton of the Providence Journal. “Once I found out it was on Twitter, I went immediately and deleted it. One thing’s for sure, I don’t want it to be a distraction on the team or for me.”

Despite his embarrassing gaffe, Bogaerts would not dismiss the possibility of reactivating his Twitter account in the future, though manager John Farrell doesn't seem overly concerned.

“This is an isolated incident,” Farrell said, mentioning that he had a chat with Bogaerts about it. “Xander’s acknowledged it, learned from it and moved on.”
