Mike Trout on Yu Darvish: We have 'a little rivalry going'

Yu Darvish has baffled most hitters since coming off from Japan, but Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout isn't one of them.

Trout is hitting .324 with a .441 on-base percentage and four home runs in 34 plate appearances against the Rangers' righty, and the two faced off for the first time in 2014 in spring action Tuesday.

Trout went 1-for-2 against Darvish, who employed a very specific strategy against his AL West rival.

"I only threw fastballs," Darvish said after the game. "I didn't want to show him anything else. I think the approach toward Trout is going to be a little different this year."

Trout also acknowledged the strategy after the game and is looking forward to the challenge of hitting Darvish's best stuff once the regular season begins.

"Over the years, facing him, we've had a little rivalry going," Trout said. "He's throwing his best stuff, and I'm trying to hit his best stuff. We're having fun out there, and that's how it should be."

The first opportunity for the two superstars to clash will be in early May when the Rangers visit Angel Stadium.
