Though the Blue Jays offseason exploits have been fairly mundane thus far, a significant move could be in the offing, as the club reportedly boasts a "commanding position" in the free-agent pitching market, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

"...Toronto can just sit back and wait for [a free-agent starter] to agree to its terms. The Blue Jays need a starting pitcher and are willing to pay, and because there are so many free-agent starters available, one of them will need Toronto, whether it's [Ervin] Santana or [Ubaldo] Jimenez or A.J. Burnett."

Toronto's disappointing rotation from 2013 remains largely intact -- despite the loss of right-hander Josh Johnson -- and many pundits have suggested the Blue Jays need another top-end starter to realistically contend this season. The club has been connected to both Santana and Jimenez for weeks, and reportedly requested medical information last week on the latter.
