The Rays effectively filled their void at first base on Friday, reportedly agreeing to re-sign veteran James Loney to a three-year, $21-million deal, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
An eight-year veteran, Loney enjoyed a bounce-back season in 2013 after struggling mightily in a dismal 2012 campaign. Loney, who turns 30 in May, produced 2.7 wins above replacement with the Rays last year, posting a 118 wRC+ with 13 home runs over 158 contests.
