MLBPA investigating Jay Z's gift to Robinson Cano

Jay Z's gift of a $33,900 watch to New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano is being investigated by the Major League Baseball Players Association.

The investigation is to determine whether or not the gift, which was a birthday present, violates the union's agent regulations.

Cano posted a photo of the watch on his instagram account, after receiving it on Oct. 22 at a party for his 31st birthday.

According to ESPN.com, Section 5(B)(5)(a) of the Players Association regulations states:

"No Player Agent or Applicant shall provide, cause to be provided or promise to provide, any money or any other thing of value to any player, or any person related to or assocaited with such player, the purpose of which is to induce or encourage such player to use or continue to use any person's or firm's services as a Player Agent, Representative, or Draft Advisor"

Cano is represented by Creative Artists Agency, and Jay Z's Roc Nation sports group.

The Players Association has reportedly interviewed several of the people involved and Jay Z could be subject to discipline if he is found in violation.
