Rangers, Bochy mutually agree to end managerial tenure
The Texas Rangers will be looking for a new skipper after the team and Bruce Bochy mutually agreed to end his managerial tenure Monday.
Bochy managed the Rangers for three seasons, memorably leading the franchise to its first World Series championship in 2023. Texas went 81-81 this year, missing the postseason by six games despite leading the AL West by run differential.
The Rangers have offered Bochy an opportunity to stay on as an advisor.
The 70-year-old ranks sixth on the all-time managerial wins list with 2,252 and is the highest-ranking skipper not already in the Hall of Fame.
Multiple managerial jobs became available Monday after numerous firings following the MLB regular season's conclusion.
The San Francisco Giants, the franchise Bochy led to three World Series championships over 13 seasons, fired Bob Melvin.
