The Los Angeles Angels announced Sunday that they acquired veteran outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. and cash from the San Francisco Giants for a player to be named later.
The Giants had designated Wade for assignment Wednesday.
Wade, 31, owns a .167/.275/.271 slash line with one home run and 15 RBIs through 169 plate appearances this season.
The lefty was a reliable platoon bat against right-handed pitching from 2021-24, posting an OPS+ of 117 or better three separate times. He recorded a .380 on-base percentage with a .761 OPS last year.
The Angeles' current roster of outfielders - Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, and Chris Taylor - are all right-handed hitters.
Wade owns a career .742 OPS (108 OPS+) through seven seasons.
