PHOTO: Cards' Motte has Red Sox level ugly beard

The Boston Red Sox have grabbed a lot of attention this offseason for their collection of beards in the lineup. 

Jonny Gomes and Mike Napoil and Cody Ross and others have led the way with some truly grotesque monuments to masculinity, but St. Louis Cardinals reliever Jason Motte was quick to point out to the media that he, too, has some truly awful facial hair to share with the world. 

Courtesy the official MLB twitter account, Motte added the following sentiment: "Those guys over there have nice beards. I like mine. I am sure some Boston fans will hate mine." 

Growing a straight-forward long beard doesn't take much beyond the right genetics and a few months of sloth. Growing whatever Jason Motte has on his face? That takes effort.
