The Kansas City Royals announced Sunday they signed utility player Cavan Biggio to a minor-league contract.
Biggio split the 2024 campaign between the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves. The 29-year-old struggled at the plate, registering a 78 OPS+ with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 78 games.
He saw action at first base and third last season but also has extensive experience at second base and is capable of playing the outfield too.
Biggio's best season came in 2020 when he posted an .807 OPS with eight home runs, 16 doubles, 28 RBIs, and six stolen bases for the Blue Jays in the pandemic-shortened campaign.
