Blue Jays recall Barger, DFA Vogelbach
The Toronto Blue Jays recalled Addison Barger and designated Daniel Vogelbach for assignment, the club announced Friday.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said the move was made to give the team more roster versatility and to try to generate more offense, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. The skipper added that Barger will see action at third base and in the outfield.
Barger will rejoin the Blue Jays after debuting with a short five-game stint earlier this season. He had one hit in 18 at-bats before he was sent back down to Triple-A Buffalo.
The 24-year-old is slashing .256/.380/.467 with eight home runs, 14 doubles, and 34 RBIs across 50 games at Triple-A this season.
The Blue Jays signed Vogelbach to a minor-league contract in February. The 31-year-old designated hitter registered a .578 OPS with one home, eight RBIs, and nine walks in 70 at-bats this season.
