Blue Jays' Bassitt takes dirt from mound in final start in Oakland
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt grabbed a memento as he exited the mound for what will likely be the final time at the Oakland Coliseum.
Bassitt dominated the A's over eight innings Friday, allowing just one run with seven strikeouts. The 35-year-old took a handful of dirt from the pitching mound as he walked off the field at the end of the eighth inning.

"I don't know if I'll ever see this place again," Bassitt said postgame, per MLB.com's Sonja Chen.
Bassitt spent six seasons with the Athletics, posting a 30-24 record with a 3.44 ERA, and made his only All-Star Game appearance in 2021.
"Chris is always doing some quirky things, you know," Blue Jays manager John Schneider said.
The Blue Jays ultimately lost the game 2-1 on a walk-off home run by Athletics outfielder JJ Bleday in the ninth inning.
