Brewers' Contreras continues hot start: 'It's epic what he's doing'
Catcher William Contreras has been one of baseball's best players this season and helped the Milwaukee Brewers to a series victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Contreras recorded three hits, including his sixth home run of the campaign, in Milwaukee's 10-2 win. He ranks second in the league in average (.359), third in fWAR (2.6), and fifth in wRC+ (180).
"Contreras is out of his mind," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's epic what he's doing every at-bat."
Contreras has appeared in every game for the Brewers this season, helping them to a surprising 26-17 start and first place in the NL Central.
"It leaves me speechless, honestly," infielder Joey Ortiz said. "It's pretty unreal to watch him hit."
Contreras is slashing .359/.434/.553 with 20 extra-base hits, 34 RBIs, and 39 runs scored across 170 at-bats in 2024.
