Twins place Buxton on 10-day IL with right knee inflammation
The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation, the team announced Friday.
Buxton left the Twins' game versus the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday after appearing to injure himself while attempting to steal second base. An MRI didn't reveal any structural damage, per Betsy Helfand of Pioneer Press.
The team has recalled Austin Martin in a corresponding move. In addition, Minnesota placed reliever Brock Stewart on the 15-day IL with right shoulder tendinitis and recalled left-hander Kody Funderburk.
Injuries have plagued Buxton since he debuted with the Twins in 2015. He's only appeared in more than 92 games once in his 10-year career.
The Twins, winners of 10 in a row, will look to overcome Buxton's injury as they begin a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
