The Baltimore Orioles' acquisition of 2021 NL Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes has caught the eye of New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

"That could be a bit of a problem," Boone said Saturday, according to The Athletic's Chris Kirschner. "That was my first reaction."

The defending AL East champion Baltimore picked up Burnes in a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for left-hander DL Hall and infielder Joey Ortiz.

Burnes will join an Orioles rotation that exceeded expectations in 2023, finishing in the top half of the league in wins, ERA, and strikeouts.

"Obviously an amazing pitcher going to a great team," Boone said, according to the New York Post's Greg Joyce. "We'll see a lot of him and look forward to the opportunity to compete against the best."

The Orioles surprised the baseball world in 2023, winning 101 games and an AL East title for the first time since 2014.

The Yankees posted a 6-7 record against them last season and were outscored 68-57.
