The Chicago White Sox and shortstop Paul DeJong agreed to a one-year contract, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports.

Financial terms of the agreement aren't yet known, and the deal is reportedly pending a physical.

DeJong split the 2023 season between the St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Francisco Giants.

The 30-year-old hit just .207 with a .612 OPS, 14 home runs, and 38 RBIs across 112 games in 2023.

DeJong spent parts of the first seven seasons of his career with the Cardinals before he was dealt to the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.

The Blue Jays designated DeJong for assignment after just 13 games. He was then signed to a major-league contract by the Giants, where he finished the season.

DeJong's best season came with the Cardinals in 2019, when he was named to his only All-Star Game, hitting a career-high 30 home runs over 159 games.

The White Sox were in the market for an infielder after declining a $14-million option on former All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson earlier this month.
