The Colorado Rockies acquired right-hander Cal Quantrill from the Cleveland Guardians for minor-league catcher Kody Huff, the Guardians announced Friday.
Quantrill was designated for assignment by the Guardians earlier this week.
The 28-year-old struggled in 2023, posting a career-worst 5.24 ERA and 1.47 WHIP for Cleveland.
Quantrill's best season came in 2021 when he registered a career-best 2.89 ERA with 121 strikeouts over 149 2/3 innings.
He owns a career 35-23 record with a 3.83 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 427 strikeouts over five big-league seasons.
Huff was a seventh-round pick by the Rockies in the 2022 draft. The 22-year-old hit .262 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in 86 games at Single-A in 2023.
