Report: Nationals' Candelario available via trade
The Washington Nationals are making third baseman Jeimer Candelario available for trade, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports.
Candelario leads all National League third basemen this season with 2.4 WAR, according to FanGraphs. The 29-year-old is hitting .263/.338/.471 with 10 homers and four stolen bases across 76 games.
Over an eight-year career, Candelario boasts a .733 OPS with 76 home runs and 11 steals in 682 contests.
He spent the previous five and a half seasons with the Detroit Tigers and is in his first campaign with Washington after signing a one-year, $5-million deal this past winter.
The Nationals seem poised to be sellers ahead of MLB's Aug. 1 trade deadline, sitting last in the NL East at 32-48 and 21 games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves.
