Warning: Story contains coarse language
New York Mets manager Buck Showalter is hoping star first baseman Pete Alonso doesn't make a habit of using profane language during post-game interviews on the field.
Alonso made headlines following a recent win when he finished his on-field interview by saying, "Let's f-----g go Mets."
Showalter admitted that hearing Alonso curse on the field bothered him.
"It's not a good idea, and something I don't think you'll see happen again. I hope not," Showalter told "The Michael Kay Show" on ESPN 98.7 FM.
He added: "It's just the venue you put it in and the people that are listening. ... It's just unfortunate, because I don't want somebody's day at the ballpark to be less than it could be because of something someone heard."
Alonso is off to a sensational start at the plate in 2023, leading MLB with 17 home runs and ranking fourth with 41 RBIs through his first 48 games.
