The New York Mets are calling up slugging prospect Mark Vientos and optioning infielder Luis Guillorme, the club announced Wednesday.
Vientos is off to a terrific start at the plate this season, slashing .333/.416/.688 with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs in 38 Triple-A games for the Syracuse Mets.
The 23-year-old third baseman is the No. 7 prospect in the Mets' system, according to MLB Pipeline.
New York will look to Vientos to help boost a struggling offense. The Mets are tied for 21st in MLB in runs scored (179), tied for 20th in home runs (44), and sit 19th in OPS (.704) through the first 43 games of the season.
The team has lost seven of 10 games to fall to 20-23 and enters Wednesday sitting fourth in the NL East.
