MLB Tuesday best bets: Yankees to start fast vs. Rangers

We have a jam-packed day of baseball to look forward to. Thanks to some doubleheaders, there are a whopping 18 games scheduled for Tuesday's MLB slate.

Let's dive into a couple that stand out with our best bets.

Yankees (-125) @ Rangers (+105)

The Yankees have long since locked up their division and the No. 2 seed in the AL. By and large, they're playing for nothing.

I see value in backing them against the Rangers anyways. For one, they're the far better team. Their offense is among the league's hottest - at least against righties - as they sit third in wOBA over the past three weeks.

They should be able to muster up some runs against a struggling pitcher in Jon Gray. He owns a 4.50 ERA and 4.78 FIP over the past month while allowing hard contact nearly 40% of the time.

That's not a recipe for success against an Aaron Judge-led offense that's built to hit for power.

Jameson Taillon also enters this game in fine form for the Yankees. He owns a 3.23 ERA and a 3.08 FIP over the past month and has conceded three runs or fewer in six of his last seven.

He should have his way against a Rangers offense in miserable form at the dish. Only the Reds have posted a lower wOBA against right-handed pitching these past three weeks.

If those advantages weren't enough, it's also worth noting the Yankees have an incentive to take this game seriously. They have a bye in the opening round of the playoffs, which means they're going to be sitting idle for a while. That makes these final tuneups all the more important.

They're going to leave no stone unturned in terms of lineups and bullpen usage. They'll want everyone finishing on a high and feeling good about themselves heading into the postseason.

With the insurance of a push if things are tied up through five, I quite like backing the Yankees.

Bet: Yankees F5 ML (-125)

Twins (+120) @ White Sox (-140)

Neither the Twins nor White Sox have been overly dangerous at the plate the last handful of days.

Minnesota has scored more than three runs only once over the last five games, while Chicago has averaged just 2.8 runs during that stretch.

If we go back one game further, though, you'll notice a 12-run explosion in a game between these two teams.

It just so happens that Josh Winder, who's taking the mound for Minnesota tonight, also started that game for the Twins. The White Sox generated three runs in fewer than five innings to chase Winder from the game, which has been a common theme in his starts for a while now.

Winder has conceded at least three runs in six of his last nine starts. He has lasted more than five innings only twice and shown an inability to keep the ball in the park, having conceded seven homers over his last five appearances.

Although the White Sox haven't done a great job of getting on base of late, they have hit for power. They sit 10th in ISO and first in hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching over the last three weeks.

They should be able to get to Winder once again and generate quick-strike offense against him.

Lucas Giolito has actually pitched fairly well of late, but as a whole, this year has been a huge struggle. He owns a 5.00 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and has allowed homers at a pretty high clip.

I like the White Sox to win against Winder and a Byron Buxton-less Twins team, but with such a reasonable total, I see more value backing the over.

Bet: Over 7.5 (-105)
