The New York Yankees placed outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with right wrist inflammation.

New York recalled outfielder Estevan Florial from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding roster move. The team also selected right-hander Ryan Weber from Scranton, while left-hander Anthony Banda was designated for assignment.

Benintendi exited Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a wrist injury. Manager Aaron Boone said postgame that Benintendi felt a "pop" in his wrist and was experiencing numbness in his fingers, according to Hoch.

Initial X-rays taken Friday came back negative. He underwent an MRI on Saturday, but the results were inconclusive, meaning he'll need more CT scans on his wrist to determine the issue.

"We gotta get some more tests, and more imaging, and more opinions to kinda really narrow down exactly what it is. I think there's still some questions out there," Boone told reporters Saturday, according to ESPN's Marly Rivera.

The injury came on a first-pitch swing-and-miss in the third inning against lefty starter Jeffrey Springs. Benintendi immediately winced and shook his right hand before training staff removed him from the game.

Benintendi's first-inning plate appearance ended with a sharp line-drive double to center field. The former Gold Glove winner had the hamate bone in his right wrist removed between high school and college.

Oswaldo Cabrera took over the plate appearance and popped out. Cabrera stayed in the game in the bottom of the third, taking over in right field. Aaron Judge shifted from right to center, while Aaron Hicks moved from center to left, where Benintendi started.

Benintendi, 28, was the key offensive addition for the Yankees prior to the trade deadline. The All-Star was acquired from the Kansas City Royals for a trio of pitchers headlined by left-handed prospect T.J. Sikkema.

Entering Friday's key series-opening contest against the division rivals, Benintendi was hitting .239/.318/.381 with two homers and four stolen bases through 32 games with the Yankees.

New York has held a sizeable lead in the AL East for most of the season. However, a rough 10-18 August has opened the door for its competition, with the second-place Rays sitting five games back after winning Friday's game 9-0.
