The Minnesota Twins placed All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right hip strain.

Buxton owns an .832 OPS with 28 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 61 runs scored across 92 games this season.

Catcher Caleb Hamilton will replace Buxton on the roster and is active for Tuesday night's game against the Houston Astros.

Buxton underwent an MRI on the hip after exiting Monday's game against the Texas Rangers early. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli admitted the 28-year-old has been playing at far less than full health for large parts of the season.

"What he's done to this point has been pretty amazing with the physical difficulties he's had," Baldelli said Monday, according to The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman.

Buxton has also been dealing with a sore knee for most of the campaign, with the Twins giving him scheduled rest days to try and keep him as healthy as possible.

"I don't know what percentage he's at, but it's not a high percentage of what he can normally do physically," Baldelli said.
