Giants' Rodon frustrated after 5th straight loss: 'Something needs to change'

After a franchise-record 107 wins in 2021, the San Francisco Giants are struggling to find that level of success this season.

The Giants lost 8-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday to drop their fifth straight game, and left-hander Carlos Rodon isn't thrilled with his club's performances.

"I think something needs to change. I think we're playing really bad baseball," Rodon said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

"We can say that as much as we want, you know? Until we physically do something and make a change, I don't think we're going to see any results."

Rodon struggled during his start Monday, allowing four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts across five innings. The outing marked his fifth loss of the season.

The hurler said San Francisco needs to play with more passion than it has shown lately.

"We need to play with a little more fire," Rodon added. "I mean, it's definitely frustrating. I think all of us would like to play better and see different results."

The Giants have lost eight of their past 10 contests. They find themselves nine games back of the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers and on the outside looking in at the NL wild-card picture.
