Astros' Alvarez, Pena leave with injuries after collision
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez and shortstop Jeremy Pena were both forced to leave Wednesday's game against the New York Mets after the pair collided trying to field a fly ball.

Alvarez was carted off the field but was eventually able to walk to Houston's clubhouse once inside the bowels of Citi Field, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. Meanwhile, Pena walked off under his own power after initially trying to remain in the game, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.
Both players are being evaluated for concussions, the team announced, per Rome. Houston will provide a medical update Thursday.
Alvarez and Pena are authoring terrific 2022 campaigns and are big contributors to Houston's strong start to the season.
The 25-year-old Alvarez owns a .316/.412/.658 slash line with 23 home runs and 56 RBIs in 67 games. He also inked a six-year, $115-million contract extension with the Astros on June 3.
Pena has emerged as a legitimate contender for American League Rookie of the Year in his first season as the Astros shortstop after the departure of Carlos Correa in free agency.
The 24-year-old is hitting .275/.327/.461 with nine home runs, 27 RBIs, and six stolen bases in his first 57 games.
